A guide to our bifold door configurations – “the possibilities are endless”

Bifold doors are a super flexible glazing solution. Not only are they perfect for creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing for modern alfresco living and dining, they’re also great if you want to connect two indoor living spaces, whilst still having the ability to keep them separate at the same time too.

But what configurations are available?

2 and 3 door bifold configurations

Suitable for small spaces, our 2 door bifolds are ideal if you are wanting to replace the more traditional french doors with something a little more contemporary.

Unlike French doors where you are left with a door on either side of the opening, our 2 panel bifold doors slide and stack together on one side only, so they either slide all the way to the left or all the way to the right.

As with all bifolds, they also open up to a 90% of the aperture, maxing full use of the space you have, letting in as much natural light as possible.

As the 3 panel bifolding doors can slide in pairs, you can have one of the doors acting independently from the other two, allowing for the doors to open in opposite directions. This can be the perfect solution if you do not have enough space to stack all three doors in one area.

As with all our bifold doors, the doors can stack on the outside or inside depending on how much space you have and what look and feel you are after.

4 and 6 panel bifolds

4 and 6 panel bifolds are great for larger spaces and offer plenty of choice when it comes to how your panels slide. You can either:

AND…with the 6 panel bifolds, you have an added extra option of 5 panels sliding in one direction and 1 panels sliding in the opposite direction, which comes is super handy if you want to get a similar effect to the doors opening from the middle but don’t have the space for 3 panels to stack on either side.

5 and 7 door configurations

An odd number of panels can create a more unique feeling, glazing design, especially when you have the space for a larger number of panels i.e. 5 or 7.

As with all the other bifold door configurations you can open the 5 or 7 panel bifolds so all stack to the right or left and, as with the 3, 4 and 6 panel bifolds, you can have one door opening independently from the rest, leaving the others to slide to the opposite side.

7 panel bifolds

And, you can be even quirkier than the 3 vs 4 opening (as above) with the 7 panels

Our top tip!

Remember…the more panels you have, the more you need to consider the space around your bifolds and how best the doors can stack, whether that’s on one side of the opening or either side.
